Long story short, a few years ago my wife picked a Honda Ridgeline over the Liberty CRD. (I had my 7.3 Powerstroke F350 at the time) I test drove the CRD with her, loved it and wanted it. (however, I must say, in defense of the Ridgeline; The trunk, the AWD, traction control, and full lockout were all used for 3 years and did well.) On Sunday, I'm picking up a 2005 Liberty Limited CRD w/ 93k. ($8000 after a bit dickering.) My question is which mod's should I do first? From what I've read on these forums, and JEEPForum.com the GDE tune is the best bang for your buck. I'm also considering an Amsoil or K&N intake, 2 - 3.5" lift, and adding a 3" exhaust. Also, does anyone use the Power Service Diesel fuel supplement? A trucker I know recommends and swears by it. I used it in my 7.3 and never had fuel problems like gelling or water issues. Should I use it in the CRD? (I see temps down to -40 here in Duluth, MN and I like to be prepared |

Welcome to LOST. Good price on the CRD, I can recommend GDE from personal experience. Probably the biggest benefit is minimizing the EGR. For air, stick with the stock air box, no one has reported improved performance with any other mods. Can't go much higher than 2 1/2 lift on a CRD without risking trashing the CV joints. 2" is safe. The CRD axles are different than the gas models. The drivers side shaft is shorter, higher means bigger angles. On the exhaust, there is a constriction near the CAT, eliminate that and the muffler and you'll do just about all you can there. I use power service in the winter, but don't add it on a regular basis. Not quite as cold as Duluth. Welcome.... |
