I have a cure for the poor acceleration, the under-a-load-goes-into-limp-mode, and fluctuating RPM's. First, I installed a priming pump from Kennedy diesel ($195) that eleminated my air in the fuel. Then, I removed the EGR air control valve located on the driver's side just after the turbo hose using a 5mm allen socket (4 bolts). I cleaned out the valve. I then used a #15 torx screwdriver to remove the butterfly in the middle of it. I reinstalled the control valve without the butterfly and cleared all check engine codes. The problem was that the butterfly wasn't opening enough to let fresh air in so all the unburnt gases were choking the engine. Try it! It really works. I have very little black smoke under hard acceleration now, no poor acceleration and no more limp mode. Save $400 by not buying a new EGR air control valve.
