Greetings all from Northern Ontario.
I just purchased a 2006 CRD with 113,000 km.
I am the 3rd owner.
I tried to join the site before leaving to go look at the Jeep last Thursday to see if anyone had any pointers but there was a glitch in the sign-up process.
I have been looking for a CRD for a while and the right combination of price and condition showed up.
When I went to see the Libby I went armed with a code reader as well as floor jack.
I was pleased yet displeased at the same time to see no codes present as well as everything tight in the front end, as I would have fewer $ negotiation levers.
Other than pads and rotors all the way around and rear calipers (seized) I put some tires on it and all seems well. (P\O had told me brake work and tires were needed)
When I plugged the VIN into the jeep site it said there were no unaddressed recall items.
I don't have any time to dig deeper into her innards yet ( noob tips) but will as time allows.
On the 7 hour trip home I averaged about 30mpg with the A/C pumping.
I was thrilled when at my first fuel stop the tinny little voice said pump # 2 are you sure you want diesel.?? HELL YEAH !!
I scared myself in Toronto rush hour traffic as when things cleared up a bit and I went to accelerate it would not shift....Then I found the OD lockout button on the shifter knob......Phew...
The P\O had just moved and for 2 months had commuted 4 hrs of highway a day in it.
So I don't think it is too sooted up but time will tell.
The interior is rough in that the seats are very stained up and carpets very dirty.
The body is very clean other than 1 small 3"crack in the plastic low on the front drivers wheel well. Everything looks great underneath.
There must have been other tires on it at some point as the speedo is reading about 10 km faster at 110 kph so it could well have even lower mileage on it.
Also there is no cruise control installed  Other than that I am loving it.
I just finished installing a trailer hitch and can't wait to hook up the camper that made my Caravan snivel.
Thanks for all the information posted here it has been very helpful and will be more so in the future.
C Ya's around !!

AL
:JEEPIN:
