Hi all, I'm a newbie to the forum and to Jeep CRDs. Have lived in Costa Rica for the last four years and just purchased a 2002 Jeep Cherokee KJ with the 2.5 CRD and a manual tranny. Couldn't be happier with it! In the States, had 1999 Cherokee Sport (4.0L) through college as well as 1989 and 1990 Cherokees during high school, though for road comfort the KJ is hard to beat! Looking forward to getting to know everyone here! -Alec |

Thanks cgass! Jeeps certainly aren't as common as Land Rovers and Toyotas, but you see them riding around. Not a whole lot of KJs but lots of older XJs and WJs...even the occasional Willys (still running around as some coffee farmer's work truck)! I've had Land Rovers here...they tend to just break all the time (had to be towed twice in 6 months with my diesel Range Rover for catastrophic failures). Toyotas seem to be the off roader of choice due to parts availability, but you pay a serious premium at time of purchase. Love to meet other Jeep folks here in Costa Rica or Central America! |

I know that Suzukis seem to be pretty popular in Costa Rica, I have sold probably 10-15 Tracker/Sidekick/Vitaras that were shipped over there. |

I forgot about the Suzukis - they are absolutely popular down here. Lots of people use them as daily drivers due to their low fuel consumption and great reliability, but you see the mud bogger Samurais fairly frequently too! |
