Hi all...nice to find this forum full of Jeep nuts! I have just purchased a 2006 Liberty CRD with 95,000 KM on it. I spent a lot of time researching these vehicles before deciding if I were buying a Liberty, I wanted the CRD. I am not "exactly" a newbie at Jeeps, as in 1965 my brother in law and myself bought a 1946 Willys CJ-2A (military version), fixed it up totally, and used it for a LOT of years hunting in all kinds of terrain, from prairie to literally mountain tops. A friend had a 1946 Willys (civilian), and we'd take 2 Jeeps (armed with NO winches at first, then both with homemade winches, and then both with PTO "store bought" winches, and head for the hills and woods. We were never "Jeep Club" type people; we went into heavy duty country, tented sometimes at MINUS 40 degrees, and looked after ourselves. In 1975 I bought a CJ-5 and used it hunting and on the farm until 2005...30 years of Jeeping. The "notorious" CJ-5, the newsy documentaries on TV called it, showing some moron cramping the wheels in some paved parking lot, rolling the vehicle, and then declaring it "unsafe". How interesting THAT was.....30 years of Jeeping in some of the most difficult terrain imaginable, and it ALL depends on knowing HOW to drive one. I am looking forward to reading and observing in this forum; never too old to learn, and the Liberty, while it IS a "retirement" vehicle for me, it is still a JEEP!!
