Just acquired a 2005 Renegade with 78k on it from friends - free because it needs a tranny rebuild. I did have to tow it back to Maryland from Michigan.

It's in really good shape except for some undercarriage rust from Michigan winters.

Some pics...

Forgot to mention, I had to replace the factory original battery from Oct 2004 and the driver's side fog light as it was broken off in a mishap a few years ago.

So what does the Rocky Mountain Edition add?

Author:  MoD [ Thu Mar 14, 2013 10:39 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Another Newbie

all it adds is some special seats but it takes away the fender flares and the fog lights but was a special edition came with seats, a badge and i think a jacket or something...I would trade it all for the flares and the fogs but mine didnt even come with the badge and i got it used so no jacket.
u can check out my build thread to see what all i have done but it takes awhile :P

You got that for free? Nice score even though it has a bad tranny! Welcome!

Oh, gotcha. I kinda like the fogs and fender flares, so I'll keep mine ;)

Yup, free. The Uhaul trailer was my only cost besides gas for my Astro, not that it was cheap. But it wasn't $5k, either.

Thanks!

Welcome to lost and nice Renny. Once you replace the transmission you will have about a 9k jeep for probably less then 3k. And we also have another keeper on here who loves their astro vans also.

You must know either Araon or Jayme then and in that case I expect to see it back on its feet and wheeling soon.

He's ihatemybike on the Astro forum as well ;)

I've seen a few pics of him wheeling Grumpy with the Libbys before.

How did the astro do towing that?

Author:  Leeann [ Sat Mar 16, 2013 1:35 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Another Newbie

Kept it at 60 mph in 3 with tow/haul engaged. Got 12.6 mpg for the trip, which is pretty good considering the combined weight is slightly over the Astro's rated towing capability. The Astro was empty and I have the third row seat removed, but still.

I had 2 massive hills with no switchbacks that I had to turn on my flashers for. Water temp and oil pressure never moved from their normal spots. Might have helped that 30° was the warmest temp I saw, close to home, and it snowed and gusted to 50 mph the whole way.

The Astro did seem a bit mad I wouldn't let it go faster
