First time jeep owner, so please forgive my obvious newb failings when it comes to all things KJ and off road, promise I will try to search the forum first before asking any for any help or advice, lol!
Recently purchased a low mile, bone stock but well optioned '03 KJ Sport, 3.7L M/T with the factory skids & hooks, and soon to be replaced worn out Goodyear Wrangler RTS 235/70/16 tires on the steel Lux rims.
Plans for it, are to just to make it a little more capable by capitalizing on what it already possesses in off road ability, and to keep it reliable and ready for both the road and some mild off road activity. First up is much needed new rubber, as the tires on it are almost down to the wear indicators, and have no bite left to them to get me through the sand, mud and loose dirt at the job site.
Maybe some rims, the stock Lux rims are showing their age, and lets face it, they ain't the best looking things either. Might as well do it when I'm doing the tires anyway.
Next, just go through it underneath and make sure everything is 100%, and search the forum for some valuable tips and tricks to make it as reliable, capable and practical as I can.
I don't see a lift or sliders in my future... But you never know. Not much in the way of off road accessible areas around here, so I just don't see a need for it, good tires on my stock KJ should get me out of just about anything I'm likely to get into around here. Suburbia, sigh. At least my job sites are dirt, lol!
Hopefully I will meet others here, and learn about some local areas I can get off road, without driving 2-3 hours to get to the trails.
