Hello all, New member from SWPA. I have had Cherokees in the past. (2) both 2 door 5 speeds, one was camo, and one was zebra. They were pretty much stock, but had some off road tires. I did a lot of off roading in them, and loved them. Well work and family came in so the Cherokees went away, and had to go with fuel economy cars, 2 neons, I did get a 4cylinder escape last fall and loved it but it was not really an offroad vehicle. Great car but not a jeep. I was rearended at the beginning of September and my escape was totaled. I decided to get out of some debt and picked up a cheaper ride. I looked at a lot of Cherokees but they were so over priced. I settled on a 2004 Liberty with 111,000 miles for 4500 dollars. Bone stock as you can get with 215/70/r15's on it. I needed tires for the upcoming PA winter, and had a buddy selling some Rubicon rims and tires. I picked up 5 rubicon rims and tires for 350.00. Rims were in perfect shape and tires would get me through the winter. One problem though I had to lift the jeep to get them to fit on 245/75/r15. I went with the cheaper Daystar for now as money is still a little tight. I plan on going with a full suspension lift in the spring or summer. I am actually surprised at how well the Liberty does off road. I have not yet got to do any serious off roading, but it is holding its own. I am very happy to be back in the jeep world again, but only now I am a mechanical designer/sales engineer for a company that makes commercial trucks. Cant wait to start making some things for my KJ. Thanks for adding me to the group. Will put up pics in a while. Here is the KJ now after the lift, rubicon rims and tires, and some minor mods. ![]() ![]() ![]() Painted my suspension, calipers, and rear diff cover red. ![]() The jeep just got aligned yesterday and is running like a dream. The daystar lift is not great but is what I could swing right now. I look forward to reading the posts and learning a lot. Thanks again, Mike |
