Hi! My name is Johnny, and I bought my CRD last week. So far I really like it. It's got 147000 miles on it. Needs a new thermostat(partially open all the time, so it never warms up to full operating temp, and if it idles for too long I barely have any heat) and I get the P0234 over boost code.It only happens at 75mph when I make it downshift and rpms go all the way to redline. I'm gonna replace the boost solenoid filter and remove the map and see what it looks like, and clean it if it needs cleaning. I unplugged the maf cause "you don't need that" but down the road I'm planing to get the GDE eco tune, and the transmission eco tune. Any suggestion why I shouldn't get the transmission tune? And also wondering if these engines like being babied or the like being pushed a little bit so nothing clogs up? Thank you!

Welcome to the group.

I'm not sure why at 75mph you are making it downshift and sending the rpms to redline, but you probably shouldn't be doing that. This engine makes plenty of torque and all you really need to do is push the pedal a little bit more to gain more speed. No need to floor it.
Its a Jeep, not a racecar.

You are dropping the shifter so like engine braking? Which will redline your engine causing your turbo to spin faster and cause overboost condition. Redlining is a nono especially in a diesel the stroke is longer you will probably throw a rod doing that. Driving normally in my 06 crd i hardly ever go to over 2k rpm.

I was just showing and trying to prove a point too my friend that has never been in a diesel. I don't floor it when I'm driving, happened when I was explaining him something. Also I didn't drop the shifter, its not manual. If you floor it twice quickly,it will drop a gear a go all the way to redline. Also works on diesel X5s and some other auto diesel cars. I don't drive my jeep like a race car,I have a different car when I feel like going for a good rip.
