Got my CB installation finished today. I am having a slight issue. When I am parked, and the engine is off, the CB receives perfectly. When I cycle to the 'ON' position (without starting the engine yet), I can hear the fuel pump for a few seconds. While the fuel pump is winding up, I get some interference. The interference goes away when the fuel pump finishes it's winding up. When I start the engine, I get constant interference. It's not EXTREMELY bad, it just makes it hard to understand the low and medium powered signals, leaving only the extremely powerful signals able to be understood.

How can I check to make sure my mount and antenna are adequately grounded? Is this a possible issue?

Could the issue be power? Should I find a filter and have it installed?

Could another problem be the issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am kind of baffled here.

you need to get a low pass filter to put inline of power wire it will take it all out

I have had this problem a few time. It generally ends up being the ground.

How can I test to see if the ground is adequate?

Use an ohmeter. one probe on a bare metal chassis part and one probe on the CB chassis. The lower the resistance the better the ground.

Remember that for most auto electrical devices, the return or negative lead is the body of the vehicle.

I've installed a thousand amatuer radios in my dad's vehicles over the years and 99 times out of 100 it was the ground.

It must have been a ground, but the problem disappeared today and has been fine... I just hope it never comes back
