I have a question for any of you guys and gals that have done some custom stereo stuff. I'm looking into putting an 8 in. subwoofer in my Libby just to save my speakers from getting torn up. I have the sub but now I need a place to put it. I use my LIbby to take my dogs to the park so I'm looking into having it placed in a hidden or out of the way spot. The dogs are pretty large (Great Dane and a Husky Mastiff mix), that's the reason for wanting to keep it away from paws and hair. Has anyone fitted an 8 in. sub under the rear left passenger's seat. Maybe in the rear inside quarter panels? I have my Pioneer changer under the driver's seat and the amp is going under the front passenger's side. I'm looking for some pics if you guys have any. That would really help. Thanks for your time guys. I hope someone has done something like this before.

could always put it in the rear and have it fire downward. just put feet on it. could always cut a hole in the rear and go with a kinda of infinite baffle but would loose alot of the subwoofer bass output but might sound cleaner if you want it that way. a good set of components with an amp would do wonderfully. could also look into 6.5 subwoofers too.

Your Pioneer requires far too large of an enclosure to utilize the space under the seat. Booh, hiss, yeah yeah I know.

Check out MB Quart, Boston Acoustics, Oz Audio or other space efficient manufacturers. I'd go with a sealed enclosure firing toward the rear. Without taking measurements, I'd say two 6 1/2s mid bass in the rear doors with baffles or one REALLY efficient 8 under the seat.

Big sound, small space? It's all about the amplifier.

I made custom sub enclosures for under the two front seats. (search for custom underseat enclosures by SBosco) Underneath the rear seats would be difficult because much of that space dissapears when the rear seats fold down and you need a decent amount of volume for the sub enclosure. Depending on how big your amp and/or changer are, maybe you could relocate one or both of them to underneath the passenger rear seat and make an enclosure similar to mine for the front seats. Otherwise there's really nowhere else with enough volume and depth for a sub and enclosure while being out of the way and not eating up otherwise useful space.

Build an enclosure, put an electrical quick disconnect plug on the box - then remove the sub when transporting your dogs.
