CB Antenna

On the old board there was a mount that attached to the spare anybody have the sight where I can find this.

I don't have the info, but this may help/

You know, you can get some L-channel from Home Depot or Lowes, drill some holes in it yourself and do it that way.

Funny thing, I remember a guy was selling L bracket mounts for KJ's on ebay for like thirty some dollars (I think?), and thought to myself, what idiot would pay that for a L bracket. It was close, but I realized this in the nick of time. :wink:

Yup, right now it is under the rear glass.
And it really isn't a serious kink, it just looks that way from the angle of the picture.

Another option is to mount it directly to the spare tire carrier. Details can be found here:

My problem with both is that you lose use of your flip glass. I will be installing a Firestik doorjamb mount (model # MK-204 that comes with the cable) above the passenger side tail lights. It will mount to the inside of the doorjamb (hiding the holes). This way, I won't lose use of the flip glass. I paid about $60 for the kit, antenna, and spring.

They make quick-disconnects, quick fold-overs and some pretty serious springs, you may be able to keep some of the flip glass use. From the looks of this product, you just lift up the springloaded part and then it folds down:

(sorry, the best I could find quickly was somebody's ebay auction for one)

I got my mount from JPZKJ.

It is awesome! It keeps the glass from contacting the antenna. It is mounted on a 'special' replacement lug for the spare and looks really cool. They were a limited order and I am not sure if he is still making them.

I've seen the quick disconnects and I may get one also, but you would have to first remove the antenna before opening the glass, which can be difficult if your hands are full. I was looking for a mount placement that would not prevent me from using everything and also not leave any visible markings if it were to ever be removed (for something better). Just my thoughts.

I'd actually like to see that configuration, ur I mean photo when you do it.

I've got one of JPZKJ's mounts too and love it. It's nice not dealing with the antenna at all when you need to open the rear glass. Last I heard you could go to get one from http://www.kilbyenterprises.com/. You'd have to call, it wasn't on the website.

So what does this mount from JPZKJ look like? From the description, it sounds like it mounts in front of the spare tire (when looking at it). So then do you have to remove it to get to the spare?

Yes, you do have to remove it to get to the spare.

The mount consists of three parts.

(1) the "lug nut"
(2) the "shaft"
(3) the "clamp ring"

You insert the lug nut first, then put the shaft over that and adjust it so the antenna mount is vertical. When you've got it properly positioned, you tighten the clamp ring with a hex key, and get it nice and tight. Then you're in business

The whole thing sticks out about 6 inches away from the wheel face. The antenna mount surface is pretty thick, though. So make sure that any antenna mount you get can handle it. I think it's 1/8" thick.
