Well, the aftermakert HU and factory speakers finally met their match. I blew my right front passenger door speaker. I DO HAVE the premium system. I already have a Kenwood deck. So, I plan on replacing all for speakers(leaving the tweeters in). So my question to you guys is, when i got aftermaket speakers in my doors, i know i must delete the factory amps on the front speakers. Will this also delete the crossover to the tweeters? IF i already have an aftermarket HU, and I good to go on just replacing the door speakers? Will my factory dash tweeters still work?

The crossover is part of the amp, so you will have to add your own crossover to keep the tweeters.

Yes. But you may be better of buying components for the front so that tweeters matchs the woofer. Plus components normally come with their own crossover.

So, buy a good set of 3 ways for the rear speaker, componet speakers for the fronts and I'm good to go?

I also have Infinity Kappa perfects through out my jeep.

Components up front, three ways in the rear door, and two 12s in a slotted box out back. I Absolutely love them! I have been abusing these things for over 4 years now and they still sound as good as they did when they were brand new! And trust me I am a huge Metal headd and love my music loud! If you go with infinity you wont be disappointed! Hope this helps ya!

2005 Sport with "STUFF"

Are you guys running a channeled amp to power ur speakers, or just using the amp built into the HU?

I have a four channel amp pulling that duty. The head unit will power them good, but I needed more juice because of my sub box out back. The subs just drowned out the interior speakers so I had to amp them. The good thing about the infinity speakers though is they sound REALLY good even when you have low wattage going to them, ie. just the HU powering them.

My setup is a little strange. I dont have a HU. My setup actually has a 6 channel JL amp and a 2 channel JL amp. I think you will be fine running off the HU. You can always add an amp later if you want more power.

With all you help I've decided on what I will have done: Kenwood Excelon 6.5" conponents up front, 6.5" Kenwood Excelon 2 way in the rear and a Kenwood Excelon 4x300watt amp to power. Can't wait for that rebate to come in.

Seperates up front are fine and 2ways in the rear doors are good. Imaging comes from the front so 2ways are fine for rear fill. Replacing the tweeters is easy and if you are in there you might as well run all the wiring the first time for the amps later. it is aloot of work but well rewarded down the road if you want to upgrade.

I run Focal 165V Editions and a Focal V33 DVC in the rear. Kenwood Excellon deck, old Kenwood 2 channel 200T and a Infinity 202a Kappa. I also run large cables for everything, 2 Brax 1farad caps and a Syrincs Bass Box II variable phase shifter. It is from my old DB Drags system most of it and it still cranking.

I was going to go with Infinity perfects but I liked the sound of the Focals better. Infinity no longer has the Beta series fo rthe car so I have no chance to run the Beta one and XP One system I have now lying around. yes I am a HUGE Infinity buff. I have more stuff from Infinity at home, chairs, jackets, keychains, etc, etc and my home speakers are Infinity RS Kappa 8.

How do I get to the front door speakers? Do I need to remove the whole door panel or does the grill come off?

Yes remove here are several screws and if you take your time you can find them. Also be careful of the plastic clips holding the door opening rods.

1 screw is in the inside door handle hinding behind a piece of plastic that can be popped out and the other screw is in the armrest. just pull the out then disconnect the plastic clip holding the metal rod to the inside handle then disconnect any switches.

Yupp, I plan on getting everything rewired cause there is another amp going in to power the speakers. I am also going to drop in a Optima Yellow Top to power my two amps(one for the speakers and the second one for the subwoffer), my 2 hellas on my bull bar and soon to be my renegade roof lights.

Relays for all lights. Get a Power Probe it makes quick work of any electrical installs, repairs and trouble shooting. Best thing I ever bought.
