4 watts is allowable yes but whats the fun in that? I have been running CBs since back in the 70s and have never had one that was under 35 to 40 watts, soon as I buy one it goes in for a peak and tune, plus also used to run a little "kicker" of another 100 watts just in case I wanted to get out there and touch someone

yea no fun with 4 watts. i run a cobra 29 in the jeep and a cobra 29 in my house as a base station both have been peaked and tuned swingin 30-35watts dead keyin 2.5watts plus i run a foot warmer nothin big 100watt one in jeep and 250watt in house. the 29 in my house i run a galaxy echo desk mic with it and the one in jeep i run a astatic d104 hand mic,both have had the blue lights put in as well as talk back ,rodger beep board and echo board.

We installed a Connex General. With limited room to mount on the Liberty... we chose this option and it has worked well for us. We used Industrial Velco to mount on left side of Steering wheel. This points the speaker right toward you and close to electrical connections. Later we mounted the Mic on the Right side of the Steering Wheel. We home made this antenna mount which we really like because it doesn't hit our garage upon entry and also allows complete use of rear flipper window. I still can't decide what CB setup to go with. I am 6'3" so room is sparse in the KJ around my knees and since I have my Ipod Touch setup on my dash and my GPS above the wheel, I am not sure where to go with it. I haven't picked one up yet for this reason. Any ideas for a real small compact setup and where to put it? It doesn't have to be the best CB either, just enough to contact others on the trail. Also I can't stand the CB antennas that are huge and have to be bent over so they don't whip around. In this one special case, smaller is better.

darren/wayne: how did you get that antenna installed? what is holding it to the tail light?

We took the Tail Light out. Bent straight bar to angle to fit the curves of light well then screwed it into the sheet metal and ran a ground wire just for giggles. We notched out the just enough of the top of the light to allow the light to be installed back with the bracket in place. It's working well for us.
