LOST JEEPS :: View topic - No running lights/signals/tail lights/cluster lights

After a bit or research it seems that all three of these lights are controlled by the BCM. I'm assuming you mean the rear parking lights when you say tail lights, as I believe the rear brake lights are wired directly through the pedal switch and bypass the BCM. All three of the lights you mention are activated by the park lamp position on the multifunction switch, so that could also be the problem.

Does the multifunction switch turn on the headlights/foglights?

Hey guys, to bypass too much embarrasment on my part I'll just say that I had a small problem while wiring something up, got a couple of wires crossed and now I've got a problem . From the Junction block on the side of the dash, a wire from circuit 9 (right signal/park/tail/cluster) dead shorted (straight to ground). There was a high pitched noise for a second, then lights out. Fuse is good, checked and replaced. Relay is good, checked and replaced all 6 on the back of the panel. Checked all fuses and all are good. The hazards still work and the lights still flash in the guage cluster when on. After the fuse and after the relay my first guess was that the wire in the circuit had burned, but that doesn't really make any sense, the fuse is the to pretect the wire from over-current. Parking lamp realy control unit? Multi-Function Switch? It would seem that it's the control unit or the relay being as both sides are out and CKT9 is only for the right side. Any help is appreciated, although I'm about to dial the dealer right now. thanks

If you heard a high-pitched noise it might have been the Body Control Module giving up the ghost. Possible that it might be the multi-function switch on the column but I'm betting it was the BCM. Good luck.

I had a feeling that I was going to get that answer from someone. Thanks for the input corwyyn, when you say you would bet on it.... are you much of a gambler ? Also, suddenly the turn signals are working. Still no parks/tails/cluster lights. ??

Just as a side note I do not have any direct experience with this type of problem, as all my former cars had much less computerized control of various functions. But since we do have a computer in the mix it just seems that it would be the most likely candidate (considering its also probably the most expensive fix just adds to the feeling). Hopefully its just the switch and you'll get it solved quickly. Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys, it's at the shop now, so we'll see what they come up with.
