| Post subject: | New subwoofer box ideas... what would you want to build? |
I am always looking for new projects to build. If you were to build a subwoofer enclosure, how would you do it and why? Would it run 8" speakers and go under the front seats? Maybe 8's or 10's under the back bench? Maybe a something molded against the rear cargo area? I am looking to build something that people will want in their cars, my shop wants to see if there is any business out there for nice form fitting enclosures. The idea I have right now will sit under the rear bench, fit a 10" or maybe a 12" speaker and have the other side a nice spot to mount the amp. Nice stealthy install, and takes up no interior room, would anyone here buy one of these? Let hear your ideas. |

Of course... I'm biased, but this is my idea... one 10, 12, or 2 10, 12's depending on woofer in the back cargo area... with amp enclosure... false floor idea... |

I actually did just put 8" subs under my front seats. You can read about the install in this thread http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=14910 and see it in the link in my sig. Rescu2000 |

| Post subject: | 8 in. enclosure |
I am looking for an 8 in. enclosure that can fit underneath the rear seat for a left over sub. I just don't know where to put it. I don't want it in the back since I sometimes carry 3 large dogs and my mountain biking stuff. I already installed my 6 disc pioneer changer under the driver's seat. Man I should have taken pictures of that. |

i think if i was to do it all over again ( got 2 JL W0... 10in- and all the other little goodies) as of now i have them mounted in a truck box i made.firing towards the rear window.. small enough i can still carry some stuff in the back.. anyways if i was to do it again. i would first and foremost have the subs firing towards the seats or the floor.. i get to much window rattle. i have tried many things to fix it but gave up.. so i never have my subs to their full potential. to me i don't mind giving up some of my cargo room for something i enjoy. other people might need the room more then i do. i also don't have my sub box mounted to the floor so when i want to carry my little dirt bike in the jeep i just put the seats down and move the subs on top of the seats or can just take the box out.. to continue on if i was to get another box i would probably make a fully enclosed box and have the subs firing down. this of course would take up more room then a normal truck box. but i think it might sound better. make it so it kinda slants together at the top ( if u know what i mean) so i can push as close as possible to my seats. to be honest i would stick with 10inch subs too.. i think the maybe one 12 would be ok but 2 i think would be pushing it for me.. as for the mounting the amp under the seat. thats what i did along with my power cap, crossover, and hardline driver. |

I can't wait for these to come out. Low profile, and powerful. I like the idea of 8" subs, but I prefer my 10" for providing more bass. I like the rounded out sound that a small sub has, but I still like my sterio to hit when called to do so. I just don't want to sacrifice any otherwise useful interior space for a sterio. I did that in my VW (10" power wedge) and more often than not the (small) box was in the way when I put the seats down (usually weekly at least) and not to mention trying to fit my Mountain bike in the trunk when travelling to the bike park int he winter... |

I've definetly been in the hunt for a box to go under the rear bench. If I'm going to put a system in my car I want something serious and anyone who's had a good system knows you get plenty of vibration as it is I definetly don't want it directly under my stupid. The whole reason I got a jeep was for the cargo area so the back is out of the question for me. I'd love to see something for dual 10's or a single 12 to mount under my bench. Donkeykong, those thin-line subs are freakin awesome!! and JL's to boot can't beat that, I've been a JL man for the better part of 10years now... |

Just install a Bazooka.

I could just install a bazooka, but I've always had "traditional" subs in boxes in my cars, and would be a little weary of throwing a bazooka in my jeep without knowing more about it. Plus isn't the amp internal? I like having the option to upgrade should power needs warrant. |

I do like JL's they are definetly my favorite sub line the stealth box still takes up my cargo area and believe me I use every last bit of it. That's exactly why I want something that's hidden somewhere that doesn't effect storage. |

Why not try one or two of the factory subs? |
