Post subject:  Stock Speakers after 12" Install

So if I do decide to put a 12" sub in.....what about my stock speakers? I have the Infinity System that came in the 2004 (the one with the controls on the steering wheel). Am I going to have to replace all those speakers as well? Am I going to be able to hear the song or is in only going to be bass I'm gonna hear? I am going to be keeping my stock head unit..........so is a single 12", going to cause any problems I should know about?

Dont laugh, I'm not a sound guy

depending on how much power you are actually running will play a factor.

In my personal experience, i have the stock system with about 300rms of power to my single 12" and i was fine. When i got bit by the sound bug (bit hard and still attached) i desided it'd be a good idea to upgrade.

Give it a shot, see how you like it, worst case you have to buy some awesome new toys :)

I hate that sound bug, I got bit too. I think once you get bit, it's a sickness with no cure. I was running 2 12's along with my stock speakers and it was ok for a little while. That was just until I had saved some money to tear it out.Check out mt system on the carstereo.com link in my sig.

I just put two kicker 12" subs in my KJ, everything else stock, base sound system. Each sub is getting 250w RMS from my amp which isnt too much I guess. I did a 50% fill in my sealed box with fiberfill, and they sound really really tight and solid at any volume level, so I can keep them turned down a bit. It sounds good enough that I'm happy keeping everything else factory for a while.
