Money is not a problem, but what brand is a problem!!! I am only familiar with the Cobra, as I have done research on them, but I have heard of Escort and Whistler. So my question is, does anyone know or have an idea of which radar detector is better or more advanced? Thanks for the help in advance!

I owned the Valentine unit when I used to drive a Mustang... Worked pretty well and saved me a few tickets as well.

Here is a second review place as well.... almost the same results: More Clicky

there are millions and millions of opinions on radar detectors. If money is no object, then the Escort STi is the BEST RADAR AVAILABLE. The makers of Escort, Bell, Vector, are the same company that builds the radar guns for the police. So they know EXACTLY what they are trying to detect. That is why they are considerably more expensive. Go with escort, you will not be disappointed. And yes I am speaking from experience, I used to buy all the best Whistler's and Cobra's............there simply is no comparison. Good luck

Go and look for a Radar Detector shootout on google. I researched for a long time before I bought mine and I went with the Beltronics RX65. The RX65, the Valentine1 and the Passport 8500 (I believe thats what its called) are by far the best windshield mounted radar detectors you can get. Either way, I would go with Beltronics again any time. I paid a little over 300 for mine almost 2 years ago and it has paid itself off many times.

If you check on ebay, you can get a RX65 for around $280 including a 2 year warranty. Also, if the detector should ever be outdated, you can send it to Beltronics and they just update the SOFTWARE on it.

Remember though, if you drive like an idiot and go way over the speed limit all the time the best detector wont do you any good. If you never had one before it takes a little time to "learn" and get used to, nothing bad though.

edit: As the radarbusters website says: RX65, the best radar detector ever tested!

.......beware of these places that sell radar detectors for "great deals," especially on Ebay, a lot of these items are refurbished.

I've got the RX65 and it's saved me more than a few times driving back and forth to Missouri.
