the backlighting on my dashboard in my 2002 Liberty is dead. I took it to the dealer and they said it was probably the BCM, which is $1000 new or $600 refurbished. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can track down if this is correct or what I need to do to bypass thebcm and manually power the dash backlighting with a switch wired to the fuse panel.

are you saying a light in general went out or you don't get the light for mileage and such?.. i have one of the lights out in the dash.. the one that is right about the speed dial.. i would assume that its just a led light or something like it..i haven't messed with it cuz it really doesn't bother me..

The illumination for all the guages on the dash board, the head controls and the radio button are all out. All the guages, all the indicator lights and the radio display work thou. It is as if I turn down the dimmer on the control stick to off, but it is the postition prior to turning on the dome light.

I had a similar, if not, the exact same issue... I thought I had replaced the fuse that dealt with the dashboard, but there was another that was overlooked. Be absolutely sure you have checked all of these fuses before you pay the cash at the dealer...

All your dash lights (except the odometer light) being out is a clue to a blown fuse so check that first. In your owners manual on page 343 (at least in the 05 manual - which should be the same) shows fuse #9 as a 10 amp red fuse that controls the rt park lamp/rt tail light/lic plate light/CLUSTER. Pull that fuse and see if it is blown and change it. This would be the fuse panel on the drivers side end of the dash that when you open the drivers door is just on your left.
