EVIC question

will all the functions from an EVIC from an 02 lib work in an 03 lib? Temp ect.

You will have to get the temp sensor for the front grill to feed the outside temp, but other than that, all should work fine. The big issues woulf be crossing the '04-'05 line. before '04 should all work together and after '05 should all work together.

that's what i have in my '05 and it works fine. Just make sure if you get tire pressure sensors, they are from an '04. The '05 sensors will not work with the '04 evic.

yup, worked with the '05 factory installed temp sensor.

What cable did you use for the fused ignition? I know that three of the wires go into the OBD thing and the last one has to go to a fused ignition, but where?

used an add a circuit to run it to the fuse box. I'll check which fuse in the morning. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a more elegant solution.

The only real differences seam to be the tire pressure sensors which changed in 05 and the temperature sensor which changed in 04.

I hooked my 04 evic up today and everything worked except for the temp. All it showed for temp was two dashes. I have an 05 CRD Sport and I am pretty sure it came stock with a ambient temp sensor. My temp sensor setup in front of the radiator looks exactly like on these pictures

The evic was only plugged up for about a minute, would that matter? Do I maybe need an 04 temp sensor?

I'm in the same boat. Were you able to resolve the issue and get it to display or just dashes?

Temp is not working with this model evic. I would need a 05+ Jeep Liberty EVIC. The Grand Cherokee evic is not able to read out our temp data.

I ordered my ambient temp sensor off of Rock Auto http://www.rockauto.com/ I think this is the one I ordered:
AIRTEX Part # 5S1137
(For Overhead Console Temp.)

I also used the radio fuse for the fused ignition

I just installed my EVIC and works great! The only concern I have is that I put the blue/white power wire to a add a circuit and ran it to #22 on the fuse box (i have an 02 Liberty )which is the wipers and washer fluid. It is 10amp. Will that fuse be ok to use indeffinetly? Im almostt 100% positive it is ok, but i'd like my fellow Jeepers to assure me it's all good. Also I read somewhere that you need to put a variance code in so that the compass works correctly. Is that true? Mine seems to be working fine, but am just curious. Thanks!!!

The EVIC draws a fair amount of power but probably not enough to overload the wiper circuit. The compass variance code makes the compass more accurate by compensating for geographic location. I don't think the variance must be programmed but it probably should be programmed.

Thanks for the reply. I don't use the wipers that much so it should be ok. Any other suggestions as to where to put the blue/white wire? I've heard to place it into the radio slot, but there are I think 3 different radio slots and I don't know which one to put it into. Anyone know how to input a variance code and where I can find it? Thanks. I'd also like to thank everyone on this amazing forum that helped me understand how to install an EVIC because it is the coolest freaking device ever!!
