my liberty is a daily driver that is shared between myself and one other person so i dont really want to mount a CB box inside anywhere. I'd only really use a CB off roading so, with that in mind, are there any disadvantages to using a handheld cb like the ones pictured below?

I'm guessing that it would work just fine. The only draw back I can see is if you want to use it while driving on the trail you got something pretty big in your hand. Some can be fitted with a hand mic. That would solve that concern.

im gonna totally agree with fulltimer. i've had huge cb's in my vehicles for years, yappin during my hour commute. now, im running a tiny cobra thats hidden inside the arm-rest console, you cant even tell it's in the car. i dont remember the model, and i dont have any pics, but the radio was a whopping $40 or so. i'm done with the $350 radios, although they are a million times better. when wheeling, you wanna be holding or even keeping track of as little as possible in your rig. that hand held could easily bounce off the seat and become more of a neusance than an asset. just my 2 cents
