I have a big favor to ask of anyone that has an aux input adaptor for their factory stereo. Is anyone brave enought to take a look inside? I'd like to know if it's just wiring in there (perhaps a resistor as well) or if there's actually a chip inside of some sort. I ask because I have the pinout for the CD changer port on the back of the stereo and I'd like to just wire my input directly to that if i can instead of spending $70 on on of the above mentioned products. If it's just sending the signals straight to the audio in then that's easy. I'm guessing that there may be a resistor inside to let the headunit know what something is hooked up to it, if there is a picture would help so I can identify it. I hate to rush this, but I'm leaving town on Tuesday and I'd like to have a way to get my iPod's audio into my stereo by then. Thanks a million!! |

hehe actually the first thing I did right out of the box was take it apart.. and....nope! I took mine apart expecting some what of a simple circuit.. holy lord there was a ton of electronics packed into that thing, IC's other chips, it looked like the inside of a slot machine. Before I bought a Aux input, tried the idea of wiring things according to the pin out schematic.. its a no go. There is way more happening than just a drop down resister to detect an audio signal input in the head unit.. I found that it was necessary to drop the $70 bucks and buy an aux input. |

Those of you that got the USA Spec DFCHR, where did you mount the box? |

I ran the cable from the head unit, over to through the glove box, I then ran I under the center console and ultimately put the box inbetween the center console and the passenger seat. I wish the cable was just a tad longer else I would have put it under the passenger seat. But it was still invisible to anyone who did not know it was there. |

I have mine - but it's still not installed yet. I plan to run it to the glove box though because I don't really carry too much stuff in there anymore (other than my owners manual) |

Mine is way at the front of the passenger's foot space, toward the exterior of the vehicle. I'd recommend pretty much anywhere else because mounting the $#$% thing there was the most difficult/uncomfortable/time consuming part- hands down. |
