I've looked at the various mouting options for a CB anc my favorite seems to be the trucker style, above the mirror, something like Moose has. I've taken out the light and I do see the metal section where I'm supposed to drill the screws into, but I ran across 2 slight problems:

1. How do you line up the bracket just to make sure you hit that metal section? Simple measuring?

2. There is a slight gap between the headliner and that cross bar. Do you guys put something in there to keep the head liner from bending too much?

OK, so you will want to make sure that there is only 3-4" between your screws - it's narrow (I just eye'd it, but you can measure and mark with a pencil). I recommend tape to hold it up there, then just drill the holes right through the liner and the first layer of steel (make sure to under size the bit). If you can put the screws in w/o moving the mount, that is best/easiest. screw the sheet metal screws down tight engough to get some tension on the mount to the liner, but not to the point where you are deforming the liner. It will stay put.

I'm going to attempt it this weekend. I've already taken off the light, and the visor brackets and lowered the headliner slightly to have a peek.I'm going to run the antenna wire under the headliner throught the A post under the trim and down to the bottom. What actually surprised me that right where I wanted to drill there was a wire for the sunroof. So good thing I actually looked.

As for the wires, did you run the power straight from the battery or did you hook up directly to one of the wires from the sunroof?

Also, I even got clips that I can retain the screws, and I also wanted to put some foam padding in the headliner in that section just so I can keep it from sagging. Maybe it's over kill I don't know, but if you have any other tips that I might have missed, please let me know.

I didn't want to mess with the sunroof, so I tied in elsewhere. That should be OK though, you just wont have power when the key is off. Run some power with your coax and tie into the cig. or similar if you want to have the CB on and the KJ off (like waiting in line at Camp Jeep...)
