Cleaning factory cd player

Is there way to clean the insides of the factory cd player? Every cd I put in has issues starting in the middle of track 4 through track 7 (regardless if I burned it or bought it). Any ideas?

Not sure, but try spraying some compressed air. That'll only move the dust from one place to another, but it could be due to all that dust on the lens.

You can buy lens-cleaning disks from hi-hi places or someplace like crutchfield that has tiny brushes on a disk that will clean the lens... IF the lens is the culprit. Does it just skip a lot of is it not able to play the tracks at all (like the transport can't reach them)?

it will get aboout 1/2 - 3/4 of the way into the 4th track and then stop. Then it will think about tracks 5,6,7 but not play them. After 7 all is fine =/

When the dealer replaced the THIRD CD player in under a year I meekly asked if something else might be the problem. She said that the Cd player in the libby does not "like burned cd's". At the time I had no idea what a "burned cd" was. The fix for the problem...about a year later I bought another kj :lol:

I never had a problem with my stock RBQ. It played great without a single problem, all my burned CDs, for 3,5 years.

On my 2nd player. Alot of probs have been reported on these. I try not to leave cds in for any amt of time. I'll play em then remove em. If u store them in there and the player fries, you lose your cds for weeks IF you manage to get em back from the dlr at all.

My O5' stock CD player works fine with store bought CD's but when I run burned CD's it kicks out 'error' a few times before accepting and it doesn't switch tracks easily unless I push the + or - button fast without dragging on the button. I'm going to run a CD cleaner thru and see if that helps. Mine doesn't even play MP3. Did they put those in 05's or after 06'?
