Premium speakers?
You need run new wiring if you are replacing the head unit as well.
OR you need to just snip the connectors and connect to the new speakers. The tweeters are powered by door amps..
I am not sure what kind of new speakers you bought.

EDIT: now I recoverd from the blurry picture, that speaker is actually DOOR Speaker + IN-DOOR AMP.
YES< you got premium speakers, You need to amplify the new speakers, i think stock radios don't have amps built in.

While you are at it, replace the HU as well :)

Well I wish I would have known that before... Looks like I have no use for the new speakers then... damnit... I guess I'd have to get the new ones from Jeep eh?

Oh please don't.
For the price of a set of speakers from the dealer you can get new HU and new speakers.
Just check how much they will quote you for it. I don't even think they will sell you a single one like that unless they took perfectly good one out of someone's jeep and replaced it with another one.

You can replace the rear speakers since they do not have an amp.

For the fronts, it would be best to get an after market head unit with pre-outs for an amp. Get a good amp for the front and rear door speakers along with the tweeters in the dash. Run new wires for everything and call it a day. :)

Ive done everything but replace the front speakers.. I probably never will. :?

Blake, why not replace the front speakers?
I just listened my playlist on my computer through earphones, and I heard bunch of tunes within the same song I've been listening to in my Jeep with my Kenwood HU and stock speakers.. I just couldn't believe how great the song was.
I think with the stock setup, the bass fills up the sound too much and garbles it. Yes, the stock system has very nice bass, if not great. It is more than enough for my taste, especially with kenwood's EX BASS system which extends the bass by miliseconds.

So, after listening to that song on my computer, I thought I might end up yanking all speakers (leaving tweeters) and replacing front and rears with some powerful (not too powerful) speakers with DECENT amps, and get a subwoofer in the back. Not just yet, but in the future. It makes a big difference, I think, once you separate treble and bass.
