I just hijacked and edited this thread LOL. Where do you guys have your cb mounted. The KJ's are very short on places to mount that wouldn't be a pain in the arse. let me know

Seems like the most popular places are off the spare tire carrier, inside the opening for the swing-gate, ball mount or modifying the AM/FM antenna mount. You can check out this thread for pics and info CB antenna mounting location

EDIT: Since the thread topic has changed please disregard the above statements. Seems a lot of people are mounting smaller units in the open space on the passenger side of the dash (mirror image of the fuse box recess). Others mount theirs under the climate controls or in the cargo box/armrest. I have the remote head for my amateur HF rig mounted under the map lights and a 2m/70cm amateur rig mounted on the passenger side of the center console:

I believe he is referring to the mounting of the actual CB unit...many guys have custom fabbed mounting places, whether it be in the arm rest glove box in the center console, on the side of the center console, on the ceiling, on the small dash, under the glove box, and so on...

Yeah, he is, but when the post first came out it was asking about mounting the antenna, hence my reply (which I will edit).

I know this is an old thread and there are 2 or 3 more threads but none of these show a real decent mounting spot.
There has to be some more pictures out there of good mounting spots.. My unit is a smaller cobra . it may fit above my interior lights but not sure really what is up there. I did see a picture of someone that did that very thing. any other good mounting locations that we can view?? any more pics out there??

just trying to figure out how to hide my wires a little better still. I made and bent a bracket to screw into the original holes of the fold down visor. no holes drilled into KJ!
(can't figure out how to just show the pics)

You can't show some more pics/provide more details on that one?

I'm torn on what to do and would like to know what fits where before I spend $$$$.

Have any of you guys with the CB's mounted between the mirror and the headliner, looked at lowering the mirror ever so slighlty just to gain some clearance?

http://www.copper.com/cart/product_info ... cts_id=434. Found a new one on e-bay for $80.00 plus $15.00 shipping.looks as though you can hide the hide-away box behind the dash, and with a hole drilled in the dash, you could just plug the mike into it. no bulky box, everything is on the mike minus the antenna.
