Does anyone have remote start with their KJ? If so what brand, what part number, and did you install it yourself?
I wanted to get a remote start, I think Sentry would have to be disabled first? I remember sentry allows you to start the jeep with "unauthorized key" but won't let you drive away, so maybe we don't need to disable sentry? Unless you go with mopar one. Would it replace the current FOB with a new one?

Also, in addition to remote start, it would be pretty cool to have remote rev!

I have an after market one on my '02 Sport 4X4 3.7L w/ Automatic. It was already installed when I bought it last year from the stealership. When I asked them about it they didn't have a clue(SURPRISE ) any way here is the 800 number printed on it. #1-800-274-0200 the name on the remotes key fob says "VALET". That's all I know but I have used it multiple times. the Jeep runs for about 15 minutes then shut itself off. I really like it. But beware their is a law in Colorado called the PUFFER LAW IE: run a vehilce during the winter months you could be subject to a fine plus if you vehicle is stolen because you are running it and walking away your insurance will not cover the theft. This system though runs the vehicle without the key and the minute you touch the brake it kills the engine. (no theft potential). As I said I like it a lot just be aware of the local law enforcements attitude about said product and just cover your stupid when ever needed.

Thanks Rush. Good info, and it sounds like the Mopar one, which shuts off after 10 minutes. Touching a brake - shuts of engine is a great idea, since you cannot switch to Drive without touching the brake. So after you remote start it, do you just get in to the jeep and put the key in? How does it work?

Pretty much that's the way it works. You need to put your key in and turn it to the on position in order for the remote start to be "de-activate" and you are now able to press on the brakes without the vehicle shutting off.
If you have the Sentry thing on your Liberty you need to buy a unit that disables this in order for the vehicle to turn on without the key. The unit is like $100

I actually wouldn't want an aftermarket unit, and then go disable Sentry. If the Mopar one works together with sentry, that would be fine by me. I have to get a quote from the dealer to see how much they would charge me for this. It would be great in cold weather. Especially when I am upstairs, I can just turn it on from the window, and by the time I get downstairs, it is all warm, and snow melted on it

Does anyone else have remote start? and what would you say the range on it is. If the range is as good as the key FOB, that would be more than enough for me! It says 800 feet, but those things are rarely accurate. Thank You.

As stated earlier I don't know the cost of the system. But with the 800 number you should get some answers as for the other Jeep goodies I still have my Jeep key fob tolock and unlock doors or release rear deck window or panic button. I don't know what it cost to install in came on my used Libby. but during the winter I get off work at the grocery store where I work it the remote start and go back in the store pick up a few grocery goodys and when I leave I have defrosted and warm toasty comfy ride home. Best of all now security issues since as soon as you touch the brake the engine dies insert key restart and drive home. Since my keys are not in the Jeep while idling I am not guilty of braking the so called Puffer LAW . I think a win win situations but admititedly do not know the original cost of this set up . Just call the 800 number never hurts to try??

I do not have a remote start on my jeep, but I installed an aftermarket Audiovox on my 02 Ram Quad Cab. I loved that remote start (this was back when I didn't have a garage). Some advantages to the aftermarket ones are usually increased range and increased security features (if purchasing one with integrated security system). You should be able to integrate the Sentry system into the aftermarket so that you only need a single remote. If I were going to put one on my jeep I would go aftermarket. With after market you can probably even turn on your heated seats from the remote. A top of the line Audiovox, like the one I had, will run you about $450-500 installed. Mine had a two way remote that confirmed that the vehicle was started and alerted me if the alarm was tripped. I had Audiovox for about a year until I sold the truck and never had one problem. I sold the truck to a guy that I work with and he has had it for about 2.5 years now. To my knowledge he hasn't had any issues with it either. I used to be an car audio/security/remote start installer about 3 years ago. If you have any general or specific questions about them, send me a PM or something. I'd be glad to help out.

For less then that price you can get a Astro Start remote starter put in,they have all the correct modules to bypass the OEM security and it can be tied into a secuirty system.My model(can't remember the # offhand) has a range of a 1/4 mile,and yes I have tested it,plus the remote for it also will locl/unlock your doors and flip the rear glass up just like the OEM FOB's.I haven't used my OEM FOB's for about 5 years.
