Post subject:  Climate Control Fan Fix

I have a simple problem that I'm hoping somebody has a simple fix for.

I've lost my fan speed 1 on the climate control assembly. Is there a ballast resistor I can change or do I need to replace the entire climate control assembly?

My Libby is an 04 Sport with air conditioning.

Search my friend: "HVAC resistor block" in the general section under my user name and you will be rewarded.

Thanks for the reply & the PM "sleeve84028". I found the HVAC resistor pack & replaced it. My fan's speed #1 is working again.

I was really surprised too that it was so easy to fix. I've fixed this type of a problem before on older cars but was expecting that with a newer vehicle it would be more difficult & expensive.

How did you break it in the first place?

They just fail over time... cheap electronics, short lifespan.

I tried to "ohm out" the resistor block to no avail. The new & old ones appeared a dead short no open (odd). This problem would have been difficult to troubleshoot without sleeve's help.

As to why it failed? "je ne don't know", just did.
