an aux input, like where you connect the iPod with the head phone cord, or the one that charges and plays the ipod all the time? |

Charges and plays. Better for road trips. Mine adapter is connected to the back of the Alpine head unit and I really like how it functions as part of the stereo. In the Prius it's connected by the plug that goes where the head phone goes. Nice to have but more of a pain, a wire in the way and I prefer using the stereo knob for volume over doing it on the ipod. I had the Monster fm transmitter. Still sucked having wires but at least it charged. Hope that helped some. |

You really don't want to use the headphone out if you care about SQ. The fixed-level out on the 30 pin connector is much better and you have the charge capability. |

I love my FM modulator, it was $100 from best buy, and it sits the IPOD in it's cradle and keeps it charged, and works really well. You can see it in this picture that I took to show off my CB: 
About the only problem is when my cel phone dies and I need the cigarette lighter to charge my phone, then I have to listen to NPR

Agreed...i have used both to the same head unit. the 30 pin connector is much better sounding. i have one w/ RCA terminals. i will be starting a little project soon. a 12 volt cradle that provides audio signal via RCA cables. possibly using the dLo FM modulator unit donkykong has but not dependent on the Cigar lighter for physical support. |

charges and plays means you can control from HU just plays via AUX means, you cannot control the songs without taking the ipod out. I would prefer USB Connection so I can buy a cheap Hard Drive for like $50 (20-30GB) and fill it up! |
