Another question... I recently bought an 05 renegade and the check engine light cam on the other day, checked it it a diagnostic computer, code came out to be p1298, which is "lean operation at wide open throttle". I have the 6 speed and wonder what the problem could be, I reset the computer once and it came back on in 2 days. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What year do you have? Dude you should have it looked at to posts with a problem starting to sound like something else. Since you have a post just before about some electrical problem. It might me a false code from an electrical program?? I don't know, but it maybe just coincidental.

could be a bunch of different things for example low fuel pressure from a faulty pump or clogged fuel filter, bad map sensor etc. does your scanner only pull codes or can you monitor sensors with it also?

The scanner is actually belongs to a friend of mine, I will ask him if we can monitor with it.

Have you re-fueled it recently. More specificly, before the check engine light went off.

A loose gas cap will throw a check engine light, believe it or not.

If the time before last you didn't put it on all the way it would throw that light on your dash. then if you put gas in it recently and put it on correctly it would soon go off.

it's not the gas cap, that was the first thing I checked. It is weird it has come on and off a few times now, I am going to the dealership on Wednesday, see what they say.

Dealer fixed it under warranty, it was a bad O2 sensor
