Post subject:  MP3 Connection for 6-Disc Changer
I just installed a very nice product that sucessfully connected my MP3 player to our new 2005 Liberty with a in-dash 6-disc CD Changer! :D

I just wanted to show how I did it using a direct plug in connection.

I got the connector from a local audio shop who directed me to http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/products.aspx.

Here is a little write up for future reference for anyone looking for a good way to connect a MP3 player. :idea:

First the CD Changer

Then the two pieces needed for this application, one a connection cable, and the other is a Programmable Input Device

This is a decent picture of the back of the unit. Note the large connector on the right is the stock harness and the small connector on the left is the new cable supplied with the kit. I believe if you have a separate CD changer or Sat. Radio that slot is not available.

Then the new cable plugs into this box:

The back of the box has a set of DIP switches that are changed according to the vehicle make. For the 2005 Liberty it was #4 and #8 On. I also turned #6 on which increases the gain in the unit.

You then plug in the supplied cable to connect to the headphone jack of your favorite MP3 player. It also comes with RCA cables if needed.

Then just hit the mode button until you get this:

The sound is good and the connection is much better than a RF unit. You don't get the fancy controls for an Ipod, but I didn't want to spend the money and got a SanDisc instead.

Total cost was $100.00 through the audio dealer - Elite Services in Eau Claire, WI.

Hope this will help someone looking for a good option to connect a MP3 player to the 6-disc stock unit!

You can get the same device through Grom Audio for around $60. I have it and it sounds great, much better than FM tuner.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't see much on this when I was searching around and I wanted to provide some detailed info for anyone else looking for this type of application in the future. And yes, it is much better than a FM tuner!

I didn't know the 6-disc radio could take an input like this. Do you have more info on the Grom Audio piece? THe only piece I've seen needs a CD changer input.

I used the PXDX in conjuction with a JL Audio CL SES to route audio from my Sirius, iPod and video system.

Thanks for this bit of info...I bought one and love it! And it all operates through my steering wheel controls!

Sorry for the email Neatus. I had meant to post that here.
I have the peripheral one as well I love it works great with Steering wheel controls. I got mine off of EBAY for 44.00
