Howdy all,

For about 3 months now, something has been wrong the speakers in my KJ. Anytime I play music, the bass causes severe vibrations in the front interior of my KJ. Can't exactly pinpoint where the vibrations come from, but I think it's slightly foward of the speakers located in my front doors. Before I had any problem at all, I always kept my bass knob about half-way, never ever bumped all the way up. Now, my bass knob is all the down, and I still get pretty bad vibrations.

Any idea?? I really hope this is a self-fix, I don't feel like paying to get it taken care of.

Sound like the suround on the speaker cone has failed. Maybe something has fallen in the cone of the speaker and that is what you hear as well. Hard to diagnois over the e-net.

I had the plastic speaker mount break so my speaker was floating around between the door and the panel. The cone could be hitting something to make the noise.

Pull the door panel off and take a look.

Any instructions on how to take the door panel off? I've never done it. :?:

2 screws too undo then the rest is just trim clips(trim tool helps but not essential )be careful when disconnecting door handle mechanism clip, they are quite fragile.

When trying to undo the clips, you will think you are about to break the door panel. The first and second clips to undo can be a major pain but after that, they start popping off quite easily.

Remove one screw from the arm rest (in the hand grip recess) and one covered by a plastic cover where the door handle is located. Reomve those (phillips driver) first. No need to remove the door lock knob.

Immediately after removing all the clips, hold the door at normal level and unclip the clip holding the door mechanism (from the inside of panel). Push out the rod from the hole and unclip the electrical connector(s) (if you have power windows/locks).

Alright, I found the time to remove my door panel. Located the buzzing directly in my driver side door speaker, so I removed it in hopes that I can fix it somehow.

As stated before, bass causes the buzzing, nothing else. Any idea why this might be, and if there's a way to fix it?

**Update**

I'm almost certain both my front speakers are blown out. Looking to replace them with brand new speakers.

What in the world do I look for? I'm aware that the two front door speakers that need replacing are 6.5", but that's all I know. Was looking for either a pair of Pioneer or Sony speakers, very preferably under $100.

Went to the website, and they requested the make, model and year of my KJ and led me right to a compatible list of speakers. Looks like I'm set to go. Thanks a ton Tokyojoe!

can I add on to this post, as to not make a new one...

The other day, I noticed that there was an odd noise coming from the KK. I was driving down a not so decent road, so naturally I just thought that it was the road. Quick fix. Turn up the music. NOT SO. The washbasin road sound, yeah, it turned up. So, I turned the music off and listened to the sound of the Lib... Any ideas? I was really tired at that time, and it is still playing with my head.
