| Post subject: | Fog lights |
Hey all, I have a 2006 liberty and it didn't come with fogs. I have the little round cut outs in the grill for them but thats it. I was just wondering what type of fogs you went with, was it easy?? I am debating about putting them on the bumper like renegade style or through the grill. Any help would be great. Thanks, Tom |

You can get the OEM style from any stealership and i think they might even have the wiring harness available. OR you can get a set from a salvage source and then wire and switch them yourself. just be sure that before you go and get some from a salvage yard that you have removed your grille and closely examined the area on yours so you will know what brackets and hardware you will need the pull off the victims KJ. The bumper is aslo not without chalanges, but still very doable. Basicly the plastic bumper cover needs to be penetrated and mounting needs to take place on the steel cross member radiator support just under the bumper cover. Fabricating the mounts can be fun with some 3/16 steel 2 inch wide stock from Home Depot, if you want to do that. Once you decide your location, wiring is straight forward. I personally would go for the bumper, after market brighter than the OEM light route. the OEM fogs are only like 45 watts. they are great in the fog as they have the downward angle needed. But If your are going to cut the bumper and drill holes, might as well go for some better KC hilights, PIAA, Hella or what ever. KC makes a great 100 watt fog, that will really do a number on the ground in real fog and snow. other driving lights are available in different lens configurations and beam power and size. I have 130 watt driving lights on my ARB. but cut them onto my plastic bumper prior to the ARB. |

As far as finished products are concerned I don't think i have of the fogs before the ARB, I was not too happy with the way it looked. here is the latest pic: 
Like I said wiring is really simple, can be intimidating to someone who has never done it, but not hard. |

would his Sport have all the wiring in place for the OEM fogs? how about changing the control on the column too? |

thats what i don't know. I would just go the aftermarket route. get better lights and wire it all so they only come on with the parking lights or the low beams. not difficult to do. that way he has a all of what he needs. A Pair of KC's should come with a wiring harness and a switch, relay and all that crap. i would get a better looking switch and mount on the bezel on the dash, but what ever he wants to do would be much better than fooling with the OEM stuff and Hoping he has a multifunction switch for the job. thoise things are not cheap anyway. 150.00 for a pair of lights and wiring harness and some advance planning any he can have a kick stupid pair of driving lights. |
