Hello all,
Anybody know off hand what gauge size is on the rear power outlet? I have a new fridge I want to mount in cargo (or in rear seat delete that's upcoming). The manufacturer says not to use "wiring less than AWG#10) So then use 10 or maybe 8? I guess I could alway rewire the plug with new heavier gauge.

Plan on doing second battery (maybe optima) under deck and doing dual battery thing. Still have to plan all that out.

The outlet is fused @ 15 amps, what does the refrig. draw?

the wire is probably the ususal 18ga. so yes, i would upgrade the wire and then the battry

thanks for the info on the wire. guess I'll start searching for wire, plenty of stereo shops down where should have em. Prob go 8 gauge just to be safe. I should be able to run the new wire in place, right? More late night research i guess, darn it's like being in college all over again.

Signcutter,if you plan on doing the dual battery setup,than you might want to wait on the fridge install.
You're going to end up with 12 v. in the rear anyway,so it'll be a lot easier to get voltage off the rear battery.
Would end up hardwiring the fridge with a switch,instead of the plug,for a more professional job.

yeap, just pulled the smaller seat, and there is plenty of room on the rear floorboard for it. Guess i'll head over and get an optima and order fuse block and dual battery swith. i'll probably hook up an inverter also as some others have done under the seat.

That inverter will come in handy like you wouldn't believe.
For the switch,you definitely want to go with the perco 1,2,all;rated for 250 amps continuous.28 bucks
As compared to your basic dual batt. switch,rated at 30 amps max. # 10 wire"will fry up quick"
One of the most important reasons for a dual battery system is to be able
to jump start yourself.Not allways riding with a partner.
You don't need a fuse block for your system,you may choose to fuse your individual
outputs if you like.

neal you say fused at 15amps well in my fuse box the rear outlet has a 20amp fuse
