Who Has Replaced OEM Radio with an XM Radio?

I'm looking to replace the OEM radio with XM radio in my '04 Lib.

Anyone here do that? What XM radio did you select?

So far, I like the Pioneer models

I have a Pioneer...i think it's a DEH4600MP. it's a couple years old.

I have the independent setup, which I think is discontinued, with the receiver and converter mounted inside the console. it's all hidden pretty nicely. I think the newer setups are just one combined unit you have to run into the head unit...and for that, I'd situate it under the driver's side back seat. If the newer setups are anything like mine, you'll need MUCH longer RCA cables.

I think I have the same setup as thunderbirdy. I have a pioneer premier DEH-P660(kinda old) HU and the separate XM unit that plugs into the back of the HU.

Only thing I never liked about it was I couldnt get the pre-sets to set. I always had to scroll through 200 or so channels. :roll:

After about a year I canceled it. Cost way to much and I never really liked the songs they had. I may get it again for a month and see if its any good now but its not worth it since I hardly drive.

I had that problem with my DEHP350 in my T-bird long long ago in a galaxy far far away. Solved by swapping head units. Replaced it with another pioneer, but i don't know what model.

on a side note...if you'd like to get rid of the XM hardware...let me know

I have a separate XM Unit...Audiovox XpressR that I had in my Olds and just transferred it over into the Jeep. I bought a Pro.FIT mount from www.crutchfield.com for mountingt. It puts the unit to the right of the OEM radio on an angle facing the driver (just clears the glove box door when it opens...and can be a bit annoying for passengers with long legs). I was looking into the XM ready headunits but I opted to just use my old XM Unit to save some money. It not a bad setup, only wires that you can see are the one from the cassette player and the one from the cigarette lighter that runs into the glove box. I also did not want to lose my steering wheel controls, which AFAIK are lost when you put a new headunit in (correct me if I'm wrong). I can take some crummy cell phone pics tomorrow...and some better ones of Thursday when I get home if anyone is interested.

I am also using a Pioneer unit (AVIC-N2) [Also kinda old now] with the Pioneer XM module that connects to the radio. Far better audio quality this way than using an aftermarket unit and the song titles etc show up on the display of the head unit.

I just added on a Roady XT which is great because I can take it inside and listen to it in the house also.

I started off with a Roady2 with the direct adapter until I could pony up the cash for a new head unit. I have an Alpine with the Terk XM receiver.

My dad had the same problem with his Pioneer in his truck with not being able to save the presets. According to Terk it was a problem with the adapter unit. If you had the receipt you could exchange it for a newer unit that would work correctly. It eventually stopped working and he bought the Pioneer xm receiver and all is well.
