Post subject:  Speedo needle fell off

I got a problem and I am not sure how or if it can be fixed. I had my instrument cluster out and my Speedo needle fell off. I looked it over and it didn't look like there was anything holding it on. So I took some epoxy and put just a little in the hole and let it almost cure so it wouldn't run down the shaft and stuck it back on. Well now that I have it all back together and have the starting problem fixed I went for a drive and the speedo doesn't move, well at least not right. As I drive it won't move them it will jump up to about 20mph then a little later it will jump to about 50mph when I stop it sometimes will drop back sometimes it won't. Does anyone know how the needles are attached? I can probably get it off and if I attach it right I am hoping it will work. If not I guess I will just take a hit when I go to trade it in this week.

not sure how it attaches. but you can buy used intrument clusters off e-bay if they are really going to back-door you on the trade.

By law a dealership or a authorized shop can only replace the cluster on newer vehicles with the digital odometer,in most cases the cluster needs to be programed to the vehicle and the change needs to be documented with the VIN for many purposes to keep it legal.I would check your local laws about replacing clusters(speedo's is the important one) in any vehicle, there will be specific regulations that must be followed.

Oh and the needles are just press fit on the pins.
