Can you connect an iPOD with the in-dash CD unit?

I've got a 2006 Limited CRD with the in-dash cd-changer. I can't seem to identify if the Mopar iPOD adaptor will work for my setup. Can anyone confirm what they've done with an in-dash unit?

I bought the GROM unit ($90 w/cable). It allows the Ipod to play through the stereo nicely but does not control any iPod functions like they say it does. I have to do everything from the iPod itself. None of the radio buttons do anything. On the pro side, all I did was pop out the radio, make one plug in connection to the back of the unit and pop it back into the dash. Ran the wire through the hole in my glove box, plugged it in to the unit and the other end of the cable into my iPod and I was done. Took more time to get the screws out of the factory radio then to install the unit.

They say I can return it since it doesn't do what was advertised but I'm gonna keep it since I don't think most other units will do too much more. So the buttons on the stereo don't control the iPod. It's not that big a deal as I usually just start a playlist and let it play through. I have the iPod in my cupholder on a Belkin mount (under $20) so it's right where I can see the face of it if I need to do anything.

As I said, I really wanted to be able to cycle through playlists but I have already installed the unit in the dash so I will accept the credit. Thank you for the consideration as well as trying to get the issue fixed.

If you were to offer this setup at a reduced price for Jeep (or just Liberty) owners (since it doesn't do all the functions), I'm sure you could sell some through our Liberty Owner's Group (maybe a special buy or "discount code" or coupon offer). Anyway, just something for you to consider.

We worked on a radio and could not find an obvious way to switch disks in EXT mode.
Radio simply does not send proper signals.
It could be defective radio firmware I'm not sure.
Our device will work for you only in Simple mode.
If you keep the device we will refund you $25 as a difference betwewen AUX model and iPod.

Yes I set up playlists as per the instructions. I even made sure none of my playlists have zero songs in them, again as per the instructions.
My changer does not have Disc up or down buttons, it has seek. Seek does not advance to the next playlist as I stated below. The changer has 6 buttons for choosing a CD. Per the instructions that came with his unit, I should be able to select a different playlist with each button. What is wrong with this unit/system?

Usually selecting playlists are through Disc ^, Disc v buttons, there is no
direct playlist selection on Jeep stereo.

I have the factory 6-cd changer which came with my vehicle. It does have the
option for a trunk mounted changer which I do not have. Bought your unit
(CHR1 & the iPod cable)& installed this week. I can work iPod (classic 80G)
on standard functions (when controlling from iPod) on \"CD1\" of EXT-CD. But
it will only allow me to change to CD2 where it starts playing my first
playlist. I can not select any other playlist (\"CD\") from the 1-6 CD
buttons which are on the changer.

If I connect the iPod AFTER selecting the external CD the changer will
indicate \"CD9\" after the Grom makes clicking noises as it flips through
the CDs (1-9) (& I guess not finding any since the iPod is not plugged in
yet). When this happens, I have to turn off the ignition to reset the stereo
to be able to select CD1 again.

The \"Seek\" FF does select the next track, however \"Seek\" Reverse only
goes to the beginning of the current track. FF and Rev seem to work properly
on the current track.

My biggest issue is I cannot select any other \"CD\" (playlist) from the in
dash changer. That\'s why I bought this. Is this a hardware problem or a
compatability issue with my head unit? Is it fixable or do I need to return
this and try someone else\'s product? I already have this installed and
would like to get it to work. All the connections have been checked and are
good.

I don't know as the plug is made to take the place of an external changer. If the stock CD unit has an open plug receptacle on the back next to the multi plug where it plugs into the wiring I imagine it would work.

I just installed this on my '06 and it works great. It was only 82 bucks with shipping. All controls work from the head unit. VERY PLEASED. I slid the ipod connector wire to just under the drivers seat, so I can put the ipod in my cupholder when needed. Also, I have the mopar subwoofer under this seat. I replaced the stock speakers with some pioneers, and all is WELL
