Post subject:  Component Speakers..worth it?

Hey all...

I'm interested in getting component speakers for a 04 Liberty. I will probably go with the Pioneer TS-D1720C for the price and I've had good luck with Pioneer's products.

Couple questions though. Is it really worth all the hassle of wiring them or should I just get some good speakers and a good amp. I'm not going for the loudest, heavy bass stereo on the block, just something that will please the ears and produce sharp highs and lows. I am not commited to the Pioneers and you guys can easily sway me to another brand/system. I would like to keep the total cost under $500 if possible but I am willing to spend a little more if I will get better sound.

Thanks and I'm sure I'll have more questions.

If 500 dollars is your limit, just go with some good 2-way or 3-ways.
You'll be opening a can of worms, one thing'll lead to another and before
you know it ya done blew a grand or two.I've done it before.
Miss that old system :(

Infinity kappa Components, i put em in a few weeks back and just installed an amp and a 12in kenwood sub, sounds great, i work at best buy so i got a pretty good deal on the kappas but i think there worth the extra buck!

They also take a lot more power than they're rated for.

Mine were rated for 90 watts (between the tweeter and the woofer). I had about 350 watts RMS going to them. Still worked fine the day I pulled them out to sell the car.

Thanks for the replies guys...I was looking on a car audio forum and they say good things about the Kappa's as well. Just to make sure I'm on the same page as you guys, were talking about these Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's right? And from what I'm reading it looks like you guys are saying I will need to get a amp as well? If so, could I suffice with one 4 channel amp?

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes those are the ones, right now I don't have an amp going to the kappas but when I do its going to be a 4 chanel, you should be fine with the 4 channel.

Thanks Logan! One more question...it says the tweeter can be flush mounted, do you know if it fits in the stock location without modification?

I recently replaced all my speakers. I got Kenwood Exceleon components in the front, and Kenwood Exceleon 2 ways in the rear. Did not get am amp to power them, but do have an Kenwood Exceleon Headunit, and sub +amp. I can say is WOW.....They are amazing. Nice clear crisp clean sound, no distortion and being powered by the deck they sound amazing. No need for an amp to power them. So much better and louder than the stock infinity setup.
