I keep all of my music on an external hard drive. I love my tunes.

I want to know if there is a unit out there with front usb that I could plug in to?

I'd like to fab a bracket so I can mount my external for long trips.

Get an aftermarket radio with rear USB port (generaly comes with a cable long enough to reach the glovebox, hard wired to the back, eliminating the risk of being disconnected) for as low as $100-$150. I got Kenwood Excelon X590 for $200 exactly 2 years ago.

No need to fab anything, just wire it up to an external hard drive (USB powered) and place it in the glove box, better yet you can carry it in the manual cavity above the glove box. That's what I did. I had an old laptop, I removed the 80GB internal hard drive, bought a $15 external enclosure, and I have 80GB of mp3s on my jeep.

Figure out a way to get a mygig stereo unit out of a 08 or 09 Grand Caravan like in my wife's 0 and in your Libby. I forget how big the jukebox hardrive is but I remember it being large.

It reads all songs on an 80gb? How full is it? This is where I thought there would be a problem...I figured there wasn't a unit out there that could browse that much material.

I only filled up to 25gb and it read fine. It took about 2-3 minutes to scan the whole drive on first boot, and unless contents changed, subsequent reads are shorter.
Later I swapped it with 8GB USB Stick which requires much less power, and reads all within 30 seconds. All 8GB full.
Hard drive is always slower, and prone to damage due to vibration and temp changes, but USB stick is solid and much faster. Song skip is almost seemless. (Gapless playback is possible).

I think mygig is 20GB.

I would have to check, but I like my songs @ 320kbps, so naturally, i could have double if I kept them at 128kbps. ;)
