Ok, I blew my front passenger door speaker and went down to our local stereo shop. We pulled off the door knowing in advance that my speakers had the stupid amp attatched to them. My question is...the metal ring around the magnet on the speaker thatthe amp attatches to..is it removable..the installer said they could probably "fab" a bracket, but if its removable wouldn't that work?

I was looking at some alpines to throw in there.

Yes, that will work. Be sure to check the impedance of the stock speaker and the speakers you will be putting in.

However I would get rid of all of the stock stuff unless you want to keep your stock head unit.
I have nothing but wiring left stock on my audio system, which was the same infinity system you have.

threw some alpines in there, the guys at the shop made brackets for the amps to mount on....sounds real nice now.

Did you use the stock door speak amps to power the alpines? How did you wire your aftermarket head to door amps, or did you stay with the stock head unit and just replace your door speakers only?
