After Christmas I am going to run out and grab myself a deck to replace the stock on in my Libby. I am currently looking at the Clarion line of products. Had them before and found them to be amazing.
Anyone have any recommendations or what to steer clear of? Thanks

recommendations list is alot smaller than steer clear list. Alpine and Pioneer are top 2 for me. 99% time in car audio you get what you pay for.

Go visit Crutchfield.com for an excellent information setup. It should help or confuse you more on what YOU want in a deck.

I put a Kenwood Excelon KDC-438U in mine. Purchased from Crutchfield and came with wiring harness and adapter plate free of charge. Sounds great with the stock speakers and has a front USB connection for an Ipod or flash drive.

IN the past I have used both Kenwood and Blaupunkt and both were very good. I have not been that impressed with Clarion in my experiences.

Are you sure that is the correct picture? Mine looks EXACTLY like that but I have the KDC-X492. Aux and USB in the front little drop-down sliding window. Buttons are the same. Color...everything.

Crutchfield provides everything you need to install the deck that you buy. They tell you which decks will fit your KJ.

2005kjsport, how tall is that kenwood system? I'm trying to solve a major KJ issue, where to fit a full sized CB box. I'm thinking if I can get a new system like that one, remove the front panel and cut it down a bit I should be able to fit one in right underneath the audio.

Like Frostednutz stated earlier, Pioneer or Alpine is the way to go...always great head units. Plus I got this for practically a steal! :D

It says 438U on the deck face so I am sure they are correct.

Alpine was good in thepast but my last 2 decks have been nothing but crap. One $800 and the other $2200. I have had a Kenwood KDC-X 798 and it works like a champ in 3 cars. I just wish it had Time Delay on it.
