any tips or tricks for removing the door pannels to check on the door speaker wiring before i go about doing it the normal method?

ie: should i go ahead and get a handfull of replacement plastic retainers, i know on some vehicles the friggin retainers survive one removal at best

Just took mine apart tonight. Front doors have 2 screws that need to be removed. One behind the door handle and the other in the arm rest. After that it is just prying the panel off. They are pretty tough and you might feel like something is going to break but they eventually pop out. There will be 2 wiring plugs you'll have to undo and the door handle mechanism. With the door mechanism, rotate the plastic piece of of the bar and then the bar removes down out of the door handle piece. Oh yeah, you'll have to work the door lock out of the panel as well.

Rear doors have 1 screw behind the handle. Pops out the same, and the same for the handle mechanism.

I only right front door speaker wasn't working and neither was right rear. Plus whoever replaced the radio before I bought it wired the front and rear fade backwards. So fading to the rear was actually to the front, etc. Silly. Finally got around to fixing it.

noones rewired anything on mine that I can tell, pretty much factory stuff

now.. i wouldn't doubt that 3 1/2 speakers have vibrated loose

i say 3 1/2 because my drivers speaker, the one that works... doesn't always work, sometimes have to slap it a few times for it to come on

also from time to time itll go out and if i play with the wiper stick itll cut in and out

speakers aren't really on my priority list, i rarely ever listen to the thing

thanks for the heads up on the door panels, i took a halfarse attempt at it, wiggled it around a bit and figured I'd ask my favorite source of KJ information first

I didn't break any of the plastic retainers so you shouldn't have to buy any before hand.
