Any recommendations as to which system to buy for my KJ?
There's a mother load of them on ebay....compustar, viper and a bunch of other brands.

I already have the lock/unlock remote but no alarm on mine. Yes, if I lock it with the windows open and open the door, nothing happens

have you checked into Astra? when i was looking for a remote start / vehicle disabler it was pretty much the highest rated i came up with

Back in the day, I used to install Clifford alarms. They were the most cutting edge alarms of the day (and today) but they were gobbled up by DEI in the late 90's and castrated to be like all the rest.

All alarm companies enjoy the highs and lows. Be careful with buying alarms on ebay for the simple reason that so many are dealer only and require a programer to set up. A lot of them will not even have the wiring info included. Even back in the 90's a lot of alarm companies were going to this.

My AstroStart came with a programing book and a book that told you what the wires did but not how to hook it up,that required becoming a AstroStart dealer to gain access to there website that had detailed install instructions for over 3000+ vehicles.Glad the dealership I worked at was a AstroStart dealer and had access to that website.



Oh and the biggest thing is to solder every connection,do not use those crappy scotch locks,they will cause issues down the road.Then again any un-professionally installed item like that,even most professionally installed ones also,cause many issues in newer vehicles and I have run into alot at work.People are not happy when they get the news that it's going to be $2000+ just to return to stock and fix all the wiring before we can proceed any farther with the diagnoses,but hey it has to be done and it's not cheap to fix wiring.
