Garmin Nuvi Hard Wired?

Will this work on my Nuvi to hard mount it to the KJ? It says its for ATV/motorcycle applications. or what can I do to hard wire it? Any suggestions

It looks like it might. I'm not clear on how/where it might mount... I know for mine, I'm thinking about making a hinged swing-arm that will allow me to pivot the cradle down for use, then swing up out of sight for parking, etc. We have too much trouble with people doing a quick smash and grab for me to leave even the mount visible.

The easiest way to get power to it is to tap from the cig lighter from the back side. There is plenty of room there. I just did it for my CB. The circuit is protected but I would use a inline fuse to be safe, I did.

The kit shows a wire setup comes with it... you ought to be able to tap into any available spot. I haven't looked into my fuse box to see if there is a spot available on KJs... I know there is one in TJs, right behind the glove compartment.

well I was thinking of keeping the windshield suction cup deal. I should have said hard wired versus mounted, So do I just splice the supplied cig lighter cord and put into the fuse box or behind the lighter as suggested?

You're looking to wire in and that's your only concern, right?
The cigarette lighter plug-in has a fuse on it (in the plug), so I don't think I'd bypass that. Get a relay or wire into an existing slot on the fuse box. I'm not a wiring expert, so I wouldn't suggest getting too deep into on my say-so. But there ought to be kits for that... Crutchfield's, or your local sound shop (or even Best Buy) that could do that.
I always worry about cutting into the wiring and then having the whole Jeep go toast in a (electrical) fire.
