| Post subject: | stereo just quit working |
well i have had a problom with my raido not working right. about 2 months ago i started haveing truble with the stereo not playing cds cerectly. it would just shut of at random but only when a cd was playing. it would clear the clock back to 12:00 but wouldn't clear my presets. it did this only once or twice a week for about a month then about 3 or 4 weeks ago it would happen every time i would play a cd. what a pain in the stupid. well last weekend i was heading to the mall with my girlfriend and i were listing to a local raido station and she didn't like what i was listening to so wanted to play a cd. i told her it wouldn't work right but she didnt listen to me an it shut down as normal after about 3 songs. she went to eject the cd, when she did the cd player didn't eject it, all that happend was the stereo was acting like i was loseing power or as if the cd was stuck and would show the the clock then the raido channel and wouldn't eject the cd. this went on for about 2 min. then went to the raido channel. 10 min. later she had to try to eject the cd agian and well the same thing happend but lasted 20 min. this time. we were pulling into the mall parking lot and i noticed that the clock was on and was at 12:00 like it alwasy did after acting up like it alwasy didn so i went to turn the raido on and nothing happend at all, i mean nothing no raido or cd and the clock would just read 12:00 and never changed from 12:00. So it has been this way now for a week. i also found that the clock dosen't shut off when i turn the jeep off. has anyone had this happen to them? and if you have what did you do. i am thinking of getting a pionner head unit but i really want to find out if its just the stereo or something else in the wireing before buying one. PLEASE HELP IT'S REALY A QUIET RIDE TO WORK AT 6AM NO BOB&TOM |

ack! No Bob & Tom!!!! Can't say its happened to me, but you did mention the clock stayed on when you shut the jeep off......i'd be careful with that....it might drain your battery before too long. If you're out of warranty (which it sounds like you are), I'djust upgrade to a better head unit. To my knowledge, Chrysler radio's arent kinown for lasting long anyways. |

my girlfriends boss has a stock stereo from a dodge van so i am going to see if it will work for now. that will also tell me if its the stereo or something more major. the only bad thing about it is that its a tape and not cd player but i will be able to listen to bob&tom |

id think its the problem w ur headunit.....when you switch the head unit to something not crsppy d/c, check the harness for any loose wires and cuts on them, if the problem still exists with the new head unit, take it to a car audio place and they should tell you whats wrong at no charge. |

I had that very problem, I was lucky enough that it happened during the first year and the dealer replaced the head unit under warranty. As you are finding out, it only gets worse. I'd replace it with a better aftermarket unit, which would be a whole lot cheaper than the OEM replacement. Matt |
