Hey Guys,

Is it a common problem with Libertys that when if your driving at night, Headlights on and you roll down your windows and all the lights dim?

Would that be a weak battery? Or is there something potentially more wrong like the Alternator?

Thanks,

-Chris

I have had that happen since I the first day I bought my KJ!
It doesn't really bother me!

My only concern is I want to get some lights on my roof, and didn't know how the jeep would handle having Headlights, Fog lights, and roof lights on all at once

You might want to consider a Optima Yellow Top battery.

Yes and no,the KJ's electrical system is highly dependent on a good battery otherwise weird things start happening.I have a 1500ca(1300cca) battery installed in my KJ and I can have my stereo blasting(750watt amp and two 10" subs) and turn on all my lights, heater, and roll down all my windows at the same time and no dimming at all.A very good battery is key, then again bigger wire is also and the KJ doesn't come with heavy gauge wire for some dumb reason.

Do you have a mean green alt installed? Did you upgrade any of the wiring? Also what brand of battery :)

I am starting to hear horror stories of Red Tops in the desert...them exploding or the sides expanding and then eventual failure.

Stock 136amp alternator,no upgraded wiring(yet),Odyessy PC1500DT battery.

Don't worry about about the Optima exploding in heat, the Optima's preformed way better in the desert of Iraq in 145 degree+ heat which the Exide batteries that the military mostly uses and that usually failed in less then one week.

i've been toying with getting a new battery anyways, I guess now I know what to look at.

I'll look around for Optima batteries. Thanks.

Sounds good to me. :)
