Higher number sensitivity is supposed to be better... I don't see a number listed for the Boston Acoustics... |

Well one other thing to look at is the frequency response, you will want to pick speakers that match your wanted output (example: if you want more base pick one with lower frequency, if you want full range pick one with a better frequency spread) personally I would say go with the Alpines just because I know their good speakers. *edit Also with the wattage shown on those boston speakers, I think they're built to run off amps. So unless you plan on running these speakers through an amp you may want to go with one of the other two. Also remember pure power doesn't really have much to do with the quality of sound from "speakers" it helps more in subs but with speakers your looking for manufacturing process and materials used. |

Tom, if you want me to help install this, I will be more than happy too I'll narrow it down even further 1. Alpine (like I said, since you don't want a sub, these are the best to stock (meaning good treble and bass) than anything else) they hold up great and can get pretty loud with the stock head unit 2. Polk (are they Polk Momo??? Yes, Polk is very good, but the problem is, your paying for the looks, you wont be able to see the faceplate that they come with so, why spend an extra $30 bucks on looks??? |

Polk's sound great. I have the component version. Not a lot of Bass but I think it is more from the HU and not the speakers. |

yea, he has the fancy liberty with the but warmers and steering buttons, and so he has to keep the stock head unit. I told him that certain speakers have certain + and - like, one has great treble and others have good bass... In my opinion, the Alpine give you the all around so they will be closest to stock, but you will know that they are better than stock. I got the infinity reference speakers and i was happy because they had a lot of treble and then my subwoofer is my bass. If i didnt get a sub, i would have gotten the Alpine type R speakers or the harmen kardon speakers from europe but they are more $ and the sound is a lot more bass and treble too |

STINGN wrote: Tom, if you want me to help install this, I will be more than happy too I'll probably go with these. Alpine SPR-17C 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers (pair) hybrid layered-pulp woofer with rubber surround 1" swiveling silk ring-dome tweeter power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power) frequency response: 65-27,000 Hz sensitivity: 87 dB top-mount depth: 2-1/2" $85 a pair (EBay new) 2 pair. I searched the whole forum for the specs on the factory stereo to no avail. I looked for what power output the HU put out. These will handle 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power). The POLK AUDIO DB651S will handle 6-55 watts RMS (165 watts peak power). I can get those for $65 a pair (EBay new) 2 pair. Not sure which are better quality, can only go by the old adage "You get what you pay for". But do I need to spend the extra $40? Again, anyone feel free to chime in opinions between now and Mon/Tues. Need to decide by then to get them for the 29th. Just saw this: STINGN wrote: he has the fancy liberty with the but warmers and steering buttons, and so he has to keep the stock head unit.
That's me, Mr. Fancypants.
