My front passenger side Infinity speaker (woofer) is blown (I have the '04 Limited with upgraded Inifinty speakers.) Apparently the speaker is on back order from Mopar and sold out every where I have looked. So I want to know if there is a replacement speaker of equal quality that I can use. I know it’s not the best idea to mix speakers but in three weeks I’m taking a road trip that will last about a week and cover almost 1,000 miles and it’ll kill me to do this trip with a blown speaker. Questions –
Is there a particular speaker that anyone has used that is a direct replacement? If so can you let me know where I can get it and what I can expect to pay? If not can you let me know what are the requirements that I’ll need to ask for when looking for a replacement speaker?

First of all the infinities are crap paper woofers just don't hold up very well. I can't remember what the specs are on those speakers are but i used pioneers as my replacement(40 to 45 at local speaker shop) . If you have to amp/speaker combo which i suspect you do then you will have to secure it somehow i attached it to a 2x4 with some insulation stuffed between it in the door to keep things quiet and zip tie the harness to the window regulator support to keep it in place. But that is the easy part now to get the speaker and the door hole to match up you can either buy your speakers from crutchfield and get there install kit or make you own bracket from the old speakers with some loctie glue a pair of tin snips and some grinding like i did. Just let me know if you want to know more about fabing your own bracket and i can walk you through it.

So I finally replaced everything and rather than getting a new amp and speakers I ended up getting a new head unit that puts out max 50Watts x 4 and 4 new speakers. Everything ran me $475 out the door with the install. (By the way, same guy, sort of different screen name)

4 speakers – JL Audio Evolution TR650-CXi
Head Unit – Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494

I haven’t had everything in long enough to really mess around with everything and fine tune the equalizer but so far everything sounds great and I love that I can use the USB port for the IPOD. HOWEVER… I did loose almost all of the deep bass sounds that the factor infinity speakers were very good at. I’m very disappointed about that and I’m now I’m left thinking about seeing if I can get a sub.

A manly set of speakers for sure. If the JL speakers are producing less low-end then surely something is installed incorrectly.

I read this same thought in another thread, but the infinity system does have paper woofers that won't last. What it also has is an amp/crossover system that allows the door speakers to produce good bass. A six speaker component system with 4 mid-range/woofers that aren't trying to reproduce the high range. You end up with better bass than you can get out of a 2 or three-way full-range replacement. At least that's what my new speakers sound like.
