I went to work in the dark and my low beams worked, I got out to my JEEP after work and turned on the lights and only had Hi-beams. I checked the fuses and they appeared to be fine, but I swapped the fuse out anyway. Still nothing. I popped the hood, pulled one of the lamps and sure enough, my low-beam was gone.

I then drove to Autozone with my fogs on, purchased some Hella Blue Xenons and put them in. The driver's side went in fine, passenger didn't want to go. So after the Autozone guy and myself fumbled with it for a while, I said, I wonder if they put the wrong one in the box from the factory. Sure enough one of them was the wrong part number.

After an exchange, I got the new ones in, and I have to say, those Blue Xenon Hella's are GREAT!

But I have two questions:
1). Has anyone else ever experienced a a mis-packaging of this type before with the Hella bulbs? Is this a sign of things to come with these bulbs?
2). Has anone else had both of their bulbs low beams go out at the SAME time like that? I'm wondering if someing else is going one, this is my third set of bulbs this year! I recently replaced my battery, so I shouldn't be having the low battery electrical gremlins.

Never experienced a mis-packaging before for headlights. But what I can tell from your situation is either the brand had a bad batch or they are not as good of quality as they used to be (if you have used and replaced with the same brand). An electrical gremlin to burn out the headlights would probably cause issues with the circuit elsewhere (e.g. popping a fuse). Probably a stretch, but there could be contaminates getting into the light housing and damaging the bulbs.

Thanks for the thoughts.

The first set of bulbs were Sylvannia Ultra's, Second set were Sylvannia but the model one step down. This last time is Hella... I'm hoping the Hella's are better (the mis-packaging is not very reassuring though).

I'm going to check for shorts in the ground, and the other things you mentioned. We'll see what I find.
