2006 Liberty CRD, factory tow package.

Just got a new trailer. The old owner had a Ford Explorer with a 7 pin adapter that seemed to work fine on his vehicle. However when I use the Jeep 7 pin adapter the trailer brakes are applied (locked) and no lights on the trailer function.

Do you guys think this is an issue with the trailer wiring? Perhaps in the 4 pin connector the pins are swapped around so that perhaps the running lights are actually sending power to the brakes?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If it is a 7 pin try turning it one notch. I had the same problem on my 01 cummins and the trailer worked fine on my grandpas chevy. Turned one turn and it all worke.
